NT2441 : Rosetta House

taken 7 years ago, near to Peebles, Scottish Borders, Scotland

Rosetta House
Rosetta House
Thomas Young a military surgeon built the house after retiring from the army in 1807. The Rosetta Stone came into British ownership during the period he was in Egypt with the expeditionary force led by Sir Ralph Abercrombie. Thomas sometimes is confused with his namesake, contemporary and fellow medical man Thomas Young of London who deciphered the Rosetta Stone.
