Stone bridge in Kilmahew Estate: detail
Two burns flow under the bridge, meeting just below it. This one is the Wallacetown Burn. Note, lying in the burn, a square stone with a round hole; on that, see the comments at NS3577 : Stone bridge in Kilmahew Estate: detail.
Kilmahew Estate: stone bridge

The bridge is about 40 metres long. Each end has a pair of corner posts, which seem originally to have borne stone globes. Arches form two tunnels under the bridge: one for the Kilmahew Burn, and another for the Wallacetown Burn. The burns flow together just a few metres below the bridge to form what is, for most of its length, called the Auchenfroe Burn; on the shore, approaching the Clyde, it is called the Cardross Burn.
