Tan y Bwlch
The only reason for visiting this spot was the fact that it looked interesting on the OS map. So many long thin enclosures on the left side of the road and a line of dwellings to the right. The houses [off picture to the right] appear to be slate quarrymen's cottages, whilst one assumes that the tiny fields to the left were for locals to grow a few vegetables etc. This is not good land for agriculture of any sort [other than sheep farming], as it is acidic soil with high rainfall and harsh conditions at around 280m above sea level. Part of the huge Penrhyn slate quarry in the distance.
