Pilltown House, Co. Meath
Pilltown House, Co. Meath
Built 1838 for Thomas Brodigan, Drogheda businessman and first advocate of the building of the Dublin and Drogheda Railway which opened in 1844. Owned by religious orders in 1960-70s and later sold. Empty and derelict for some years until finally burnt in October 2006. Still roofed on the Google Earth image, datable to autumn 2006. The Buildings of Ireland: North Leinster volume (by Casey and Rowan) notes the 'immaculate limestone ashlar masonry'.
