A view of Walmer Castle from the Queen Mother's Garden. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was Warden of the Cinque Ports from 1978 until her death in 2002, to celebrate her 95th birthday English Heritage commissioned Penelope Hobhouse to design a garden in the walled garden. The Queen Mother declared, “I have been given many presents before, but never a garden.”
