Little Salked Mill - gearing
Little Salked Mill - gearing
The hurst frame with a slightly blurred great spur wheel. This could turn two pair of stones but only one is now in commission. The working stones are driven by a stone nut seen on the right hand edge above centre. The gear lower centre that is not turning drives the sack hoist. I have never seen a sack hoist drive quite like this. The mill was working commercially and the miller was friendly and showed me over the mill.
