The foundation stone on the renovated Old Tweed Bridge
Major restoration works have recently been completed on the bridge and this foundation stone laid by Sir Walter Scott which was originally on the outside face of the bridge has been moved to the inside face of the east parapet. The inscription reads:

FOUNDED BY
SIR WALTER SCOTT
OF ABBOTSFORD BART,
11 APRIL
1831
