SS Dalmarnock, seen heading upstream past SS Uganda, was one of a small fleet of boats which carried sludge from various Glasgow sewage works to be dumped in the deeper waters of the Firth of Clyde near Arran. Known locally as the 'banana boats'. Her sister ship SS Shieldhall is
preserved in Southampton.
