Southern Portal, Dublin Port Tunnel
The Dublin Tunnel relieves surface road congestion in Dublin city centre by diverting HGVs from Dublin Port, which lies to the east of central Dublin, directly onto the motorway network at junction 2 of the M50, close to Dublin Airport. The tunnel was officially opened on 20 December 2006 by then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern; it was initially only open to HGVs. It was opened to all traffic on 28 January 2007.
M50 Motorway (Ireland)

The M50 motorway is a C-shaped orbital motorway around the western side of Dublin; it is the busiest motorway in Ireland. The road, which begins at Dublin Port, running northward through the Dublin Port Tunnel and along a portion of the Airport Motorway, was built in various sections between 1983 and 2010. The road forms part of European route E01.
