The R242 in northeast County Donegal connects the R238 at Drumaville near Malin to Slievebane near Ballygorman and forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way, the 2500 km (1553 mile) tourist driving route which passes through nine counties and three provinces, stretching from County Donegal's Irishwomen Peninsula in Ulster to Kinsale, County Cork, in Munster, on the Celtic Sea coast.
