The Pennant Sandstone flags on the right probably denote the extent of the private properties. The public footway to the left has been sensitively paved with a small size of pre-cast concrete slab, in scale with the stone, and laid in staggered rows across it. The individual slabs have less opportunity to move than when laid edge to edge. Visually too, it is more pleasing and less distracting than when all the joints line up and converge in the distance.
