Stippy Stappy Lane
This steep terrace of houses was built when St Agnes had a working harbour at Trevaunance Cove just down the hill from here. They were built to be ships captains houses. In his Poldark novels, Winston Graham took this lane, name and all, and put it in his fictional village of St Anne's.
SW7250 : Stippy Stappy Lane These houses are known as "Stippy Stappy" and are described on the web as sea captains' cottages. Explanation here. They've become emblematic of St Agnes. This is a lovely photograph, btw, rich with colour.
