Burial mound at Claristown, Co. Meath
A low mound, c. 28m diameter and less than one metre high, topped by a sycamore tree, photographed days before it was enclosed by the fence (note grid pegs) marking the route of the M1 motorway from Gormanston to Monasterboice. Subsequent excavation uncovered fifteen burials of Iron Age to Early Christian date and also activity dating back to the Neolithic period.
