Tidal energy project, Strangford Lough (1)
See J1318 : Tug and barge, Warrenpoint harbour. Work is about to start on the installation of a 1.2MW tidal energy turbine in the Strangford Narrows between Strangford and Portaferry. The turbine was assembled at Harland & Wolff in Belfast and brought to the site by the crane barge “Rambiz”. There is an experimental turbine off the coast of Devon but this is said to be the world’s first commercial tidal energy scheme.
