Cruise ship 'Celebrity Constellation' at Belfast [1]
Over the past few years Belfast has established itself as a popular port of call for cruise ships. Over the course of 2008 there are 33 scheduled visits, of which the 'Celebrity Constellation' is the first. 294m long and weighing 91,000 tonnes, the ship can accommodate up to 2034 passengers and 999 crew. The vessel is seen docked at Stormont Wharf, as seen from across the channel at Clarence Wharf (part of Alexandra Wharf is in the foreground).

The wharf was constructed 1956-62 by Charles Brand & Son, to provide a total lineal quayage of 580 metres; this was further extended by an additional 250 metres which was completed in 2009. Stormont Wharf is now one of the longest deep water quays in Ireland.
