South Breakwater, Bangor [detail]
South Breakwater, Bangor [detail]
Detail of the South Breakwater at Bangor harbour. One of the construction methods of both the north and south breakwaters was to employ large precast concrete cubes to dissipate the effects of wave action against the sea wall and prevent waves breaking over the top. See also J5082 : Pickie Pier, Bangor [detail], J5082 : The North Pier, Bangor (4) and J5082 : Bangor: harbour wall which give a better idea of how the cubes have been employed.
