The glory of a Dublin Georgian doorway. This was the home of the lawyer Edward Mayne 1791-1878 and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of William Henn, Master in Chancery (1793). Edward was the second son of Judge Edward Mayne O1633 : 28 St Stephen’s Green North, Dublin.
The judge’s fourth son was the barrister Sir Richard Mayne 1796-1868, who became the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police on its formation in 1829 – a job he held until his death nearly thirty years later. Sir Richard's bio at
