Undercroft - a storehouse or storeroom, also known as cellarium (from the Latin cella, "pantry"), usually in a medieval monastery or castle.




Ventilation shaft - A small, vertical space within a tall building which permits ventilation of the building.




Vierendeel truss - A rectilinear truss usually fabricated of steel or concrete with horizontal top and bottom chords and vertical web members (no diagonals) in which the loads imposed on it are transferred to the supports through bending forces resisted in its connections.




Volute - A spiral, scroll-like ornament that forms the basis of the Ionic order. Similarity to an inverted spandrel




Voussoir - A wedge-shaped or tapered stone between the springer and the keystone used to construct an arch.




Wing - A lateral part or projection of a building or structure such as a wing wall.





Widow's walk - A railed rooftop platform often having an inner cupola/turret frequently found on 19th-century North American coastal houses.
Ziggurat - from the form of a temple tower of the ancient Mesopotamian valley, having the form of a terraced pyramid of successively receding stories.
