Adding a Grid reference to your description
Concentrating on individual gridsquares Geograph tends to look to the immediate locality, missing the broader picture. Many images posted look no further than a few hundred yards from the camera.
If you have an image of a panorama or distant view covering grid squares outside the one you are in, an interesting idea is to mention the 4-figure grid reference of distant features. This makes your image accessible from those squares using the 'View images mentioning…' link
Adding a grid reference is easy… just type it into your description and the system will automatically recognise it. If you would like it viewed as a clickable link add [[ ]] to each side of the reference, eg [[ST6957]] will display as ST6957
Examples
The grid reference ST8951 (Westbury White Horse) has been added to a selection of other images which relate to ST8951, this creates a group of images mentioning ST8951

More examples;
ST7167 Kelston Round Hill, images mentioning ST7167

ST7271 Freezing Hill, images mentioning ST7271

ST8344 Cley Hill, images mentioning ST8344

Looking south east after a storm, rain is still in the air. Cley Hill ST8344 in the centre background seems to be getting a share.
So even though this photo is in ST7556, it will be accessible to anyone viewing ST8344 directly (see "View images mentioning ST8344" link).
Suggested guidelines
- The subject should be a prominent landmark clearly visible from locations outside its own gridsquare.
- It should be clearly visible in the picture.
