Identical Portland Stone memorials were unveiled in 1924 at the three main Royal Navy ports.

TQ7569 : Aboukir, Hogue & Cressy memorial - Chatham Historic Dockyard - September 2017 by The Carlisle Kid H.M Ships Aboukir, Hogue & Cressy memorial - Chatham Historic Dockyard. All three Chatham Division cruisers were sunk on 24 September 1914 with loss of 1459 men.

TR3745 : Dover Patrol Monument (War Memorial), St Margaret's at Cliffe by G Laird The Dover Patrol operated in the Southern North Sea, Straits of Dover and Eastern English Channel. There are matching monuments in Calais and New York.

This German example from 1914 in Oxfordshire marked the grave of one of the Old Contemptibles who died at Le Cateau in the one of the first engagements on the Western Front.
