The purpose of these two balls (each about six inches in diameter) on a tee at the Kingarrock Hickory Golf Course, part of the Hill of Tarvit Mansion House Gardens, is not immediately apparent to non-golfers. They mark the line beyond which golfers are not allowed to place their ball when tee-ing off. They are moved at intervals to even out wear on the tee.

This woodland path (about one kilometre long) starts behind Gardener's Cottage and runs in almost a full circle to emerge at Forester's Cottage NO3811 : Hill of Tarvit Mansion House gardens On its way it passes the remains of the mansionhouse's curling pond, kitchen garden and the ha-ha which used to protect the vicinity of the house when it was Wemyss Hall.
