National Cycle Network Route 1 by N Chadwick
National Route 1 of the National Cycle Network is a long distance cycle route connecting Dover and the Shetland Islands mainly via the east coast of England and Scotland. The route is all signed and open except between London and Woodbridge (in Suffolk) and between Whitby and Staithes (in Yorkshire).

National Cycle Network Route 2 by N Chadwick
National Route 2 will link Dover with St. Austell when complete via the south coast of England and is sometimes referred to as the South Coast Cycle Route.

The route is only fully open, at present, and signed between Dover and Brighton, but is still under development between Brighton and St. Austell.

National Route 4 of the National Cycle Network is a long distance route between London and Fishguard via Reading, Bath, Bristol, Newport, Swansea, Carmarthen, Tenby, Haverfordwest and St. Davids. The route is fully open and signed though the route has not been finalised in central London between Greenwich and Putney Bridge.

National Cycle Route 5 by N Chadwick
National Route 5 of the National Cycle Network is a long distance route which when complete will connect Reading and Holyhead via Oxford, Banbury, Stratford-upon-Avon, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Birmingham, Walsall, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Chester, Colwyn Bay and Bangor. The southern half of the route between Reading and Walsall is open and signed whilst the northern half between Walsall and Holyhead is still under development.

The Lochs and Glens (North) route covers 214 miles from Inverness to Glasgow. The Lochs and Glens (South) covers 193 miles from Glasgow to Carlisle via the Ayrshire coast, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries. It continues east as the Coast to Coast C2C route to Sunderland.

Route 8 of the National Cycle Network, also known as Lôn Las Cymru, runs for 436km (271 miles) between Cardiff and Holyhead via Brecon, Builth Wells, Machynlleth, Porthmadog and Bangor. Between Machynlleth and Porthmadog there are alternative routes - one coastal, the other inland via Dolgellau, Coed y Brenin and Trawsfynydd.
