New Year's Day 2020

Some people take active part and add their photos to the forum thread, as well as attaching the shared description to their image. Many others take the photo and submit it to the site, but don't post to the forum. Others go out for lengthy walks with their cameras and take lots of photos.
I thought I'd bring all these groups together - a total of 77 photographers. I've arranged the images in more or less (map) north to south order and added a brief description where there was none.

A torch lit parade proceeding up Fountain Road in the village of Golspie, Scottish Highlands, towards the car park at Rhives, where a large bonfire will be lit. The parade on New Year's Day has become an annual tradition in recent years.

I did intend to find something else for my New Year Day 2020 midday image, but other things intervened and I only had time to repeat a shot I took in 2015 NJ0959 : Burgie House.

The Olive Tree is a thriving cafe, but in common with all the enterprises at Logie Steading it was closed for New Year's Day. A number of people used the car park as a base for a walk along the Findhorn. The time was 12 noon on New Year's Day.

The path behind the beach at Seton Sands, between carparks 1 and 2, taken on my usual beach ride. The dunes here were taken over by buckthorn, but now the sycamore is shading out the buckthorn and a woodland is forming.

On 31st March 1926 a meeting was convened to lay and consecrate the foundation stone of the new Masonic Hall at 145 Argyll Street, where the lodge meets to this day.

This survey rig was towed into position early yesterday morning. Offshore surveys have begun as two wind farms are proposed to be built in the Firth of Forth. Here the rig is lit up in sunshine on the first day of 2020. Plenty of people and dogs were enjoying a New Year’s Day walk along this beautiful, clean, flat, sandy beach. The sea was calm and little waves gently rolled in on this peaceful scene. At night the rig is lit up with lots of white lights and a few red ones too, making it look quite like a huge Christmas tree out at sea !
