By Philip Halling

Ever since I was a small child I have been familiar with Dunstall Castle, as a child I imagined it was the ruined remains a real medieval castle. Dunstall Castle was designed by Robert Adam in 1766/7. Over the years of neglect it had crumbled and lost its central turret. In 2009, along with the Panorama Tower SO8644 : The Panorama Tower by Philip Halling and Pirton Castle SO8646 : Pirton Castle, Croome by Philip Halling it was acquired by the National Trust, and since then all three have been restored. I wandered over with the hope of being able to ascend it. SO8842 : Dunstall Castle by Philip Halling This provided me with the opportunity to view a familiar landscape from a different viewpoint.
