Changes at Devil's Bridge: A new raised platform has been installed at the terminus in accordance with the policy to install platforms at all stations on the line. The siding has now been disconnected from the running line but has been left in situ to provide a steam loco 'driving experience' for the public and a new small engine shed has been constructed to house the locomotive. Other changes on the line include running pre-Easter trains (possibly for the first time since before WWII). There will also be a continuation of running evening trains on some high-season Wednesdays and Saturdays, first started in 2013. In addition, the Railway is seeking volunteers to assist with lineside maintenance, fencing etc. This is a complete reversal of policy as since privatisation in 1989, it has had no interest in using volunteers. |

A few shots of the yard area at Aberystwyth. The parts of No.7 Owain Glyndŵr are no longer to be seen on wagons in the station yard so it may well be undergoing restoration in the now complete locomotive works. See: and |

A while since I updated the VofR Gallery. Here are images relating to the railway submitted between February and December 2015 - apologies if I have missed anyone's shots. |

Here are the VofR related images submitted in 2016. I love Klaus Liphard's action shot (first in sequence) - he has captured the hard working loco just before the regulator is closed on the approach to Devil's Bridge station when all goes quiet. Also, David Dixon has done the railway justice with his usual comprehensive coverage of his subjects. 2017 promises to be another interesting year on the railway. Ex-No.9 will be out on the the line in its new (old) guise of No.1213. Also, mid-year is expected to see No.7 back in service after an 18 year break! I wonder what livery will be chosen for it? |
