Geo-Trips :: A walk from Heath into Wakefield
Wakefield
A walk from Kings Arms pub at Heath, Sun, 1 Jul 2018 by Rudi Winter
preceding leg | This trip is part of a series. |
Having had a walk around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the morning, we relocated to have lunch at the Kings Arms beer garden in Heath, followed by a short walk back into Wakefield.
After leaving the magnificent Heath Common, effectively a super-size village green, we whacked our way along overgrown paths through woodland and towards the River Calder. Following the riverside path past Fall Ings Lock and into Wakefield, we arrived at the Chantry Bridge with its bridge chapel and finished on the bank of the river just opposite the Hepworth gallery.
On the map below, the grey line is the GPS track from this trip. Click the blue circles to see a photograph taken from that spot and read further information about the location. The blue lines indicate the direction of view. There is also a slideshow of this trip. ( )
