South Downs
A walk from Upper Beeding, Wed, 11 May 2011 by Chris Heaton
preceding leg | This trip is part of a series. |
The day started with a habitual climb - this time out of the Adur Valley onto the top of the South Downs escarpment. Beeding Hill, Truleigh Hill and Edburton Hill were crossed offering wide and long chalk landscapes that seemed to go on forever. To the north a Wealden panorama, while to the south Brighton and the Channel dominated the view.
In time we descended again, beside the bowl of Devil's Dyke, before passing Saddlecombe to climb once more over West Hill. From here it was a descent to the A23 at Pycombe and the end of this part of the expedition for another year.
