Atherstone
A drive from Markyate, Sun, 18 Oct 2020 by David Howard
The last weekend before the clocks went back gave me the final opportunity for a reasonable length trip before it becomes a rush to get much before dusk. My map showed a gap beyond Rugby, and every time I get to Milton Keynes there are signs to Hinckley, so I headed off there and Nuneaton, which also had an old (but not necessarily pre-Worboys) sign as a bonus. Not getting dark yet I carried on to the next town along, Atherstone, and covered as much as possible including the A5 return to Hinckley before it got dark, although the brightly lit industrial estates along the road heading back allowed some good results there as well.
