One of my compact winter trips, mainly planned on Sunday to avoid traffic and parking restrictions. The plan was to head west from the A1, through roads I wouldn't normally use as they aren't on a route anywhere, and then cover the villages north of Bedford. Coming back I headed straight into the sunset, so took a number of purple and pink skies which were all obviously different. Also the pleasure of driving through Bedford without traffic jams was a bonus as during the rest of the week it's a nightmare, and any attempt to bypass (only to the west) is quite a long detour.
