Geo-Trips :: North to Nottingham
West Bridgford
A drive from St Neots, Sun, 8 May 2022 by David Howard
I have only been to Nottingham once when we stayed in Sandiacre in 1975, so was well time to add it to my map. I hadn't checked the roads there as the main plan was to get there from Corby which began a new route on my map, and wander around when I got there. What I didn't know is that Nottingham is split by the River Trent, and means once you get on a main road heading towards it you can't cross the suburbs until you reach a bridge. Due to the absence of direction signs (which is typical) I decided to head north then take the first road east towards the suburbs. Instead the road east took me right back to where I started, so I only ended up covering the southern edge, but was far nicer than the west where we were the first time. It was a nice easy trip as you get very little traffic through the A roads in Northants at the weekend, and managed to take plenty of photos on the way there and back as planned.
Click the blue circles to see a photograph taken from that spot and read further information about the location. The blue lines indicate the direction of view. There is also a slideshow of this trip. ( )
