SO9388 : Pumphouse at Park Head Junction

taken 19 years ago, near to Brierley Hill, Dudley, England

Pumphouse at Park Head Junction
Pumphouse at Park Head Junction
Park Head forms the junction of the Dudley No 1 and No 2 canals. Blowers Green Lock, in the foreground of the picture, is the deepest lock on the whole Birmingham Canal Navigation, replacing two earlier locks. Park Head locks, in the background lead to the Dudley No 1 tunnel. Dudley No 2 canal starts effectively from behind the pumphouse, heading south-east (right), ultimately to Hawne Basin via Windmill End and passing the southern end of the Netherton Tunnel. Picture taken from Dudley & Lye Waste Bridge at SO93416 88788.
