Heugh or Heigh

Suspect an OS error in the place-name 'Barcloy Heigh' which first appeared on the 1:10,000 map of 1982 in place of 'Barcloy Heugh' which it had been previously. Heigh is also shown at scales greater than 1:10,000 on Magic Map, changing to Heugh as you zoom in.

The Scottish dictionary defines heuch or heugh as 'a crag or precipice, a cliff or steep bank, esp. one overhanging river or sea' https://www.dsl.ac.uk/entry/snd/heuch

The OS Name Book for Kirkcudbright (c1850) records 'Barcloy Heugh' as 'a small precipitous portion of the sea coast on the South end of the farm of Barcloy, hence the name': https://scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-bo oks/kirkcudbrightshire-os-name-books-1848-1851/kirkcudbrightshire-volu me-156/7

The advent of OS digital mapping seems to have introduced errors often in the location of topographic place-names and here in their spelling. I suspect another one here NX8652 : Gutcher's Isle or Bogle Hole?
