Demolition of bridge No. 2244 on Cockpen Road Fordham
Demolition of bridge No. 2244 on Cockpen Road Fordham
This was the first bridge encountered after the train left Fordham station heading towards Mildenhall. The line closed in 1964 and the bridge remained standing alone in the fields for the next forty years. The bridge was demolished during the construction of the Fordham by-pass, though it was not on the route. It was notable in having magnificent diagonal brickwork under the arch.
