Pusher steam engine, Ledgard Bridge Mills
The power of the original single cylinder beam engine SE2019 : Beam engine, Ledgard Bridge Mills was increased by "pusher compounding" with this horizontal engine taking steam at a high pressure and exhausting to the original beam engine cylinder at a lower pressure.
I believe this mill SE2019 : Ledgard Bridge Mill off Back Station Road, Mirfield (SE201194) is Ledgard Bridge Mills, formerly George Lyles and Co. Until about 1981 this mill contained a rare pusher compounded beam engine. This was taken out on the pretext that the mills were to be demolished. They are now housing!
