NG4573 : Former operations block of RAF Kendrom

taken 16 years ago, near to Kendram, Isle of Skye, Scotland

Former operations block of RAF Kendrom
Former operations block of RAF Kendrom
The former operations block of the Chain Home Low radar station 92A at Kendram (often misspelt and referred to as RAF Kendrom).

Commissioned at the end of 1941, these blast walls protected a wooden hut that housed the transmitter and receiver equipment along with the RAF operators. The station had a short operational life, closing by the end of 1943. The limited air threat from the west allowed the valuable radar equipment to be deployed elsewhere.
