Inside the main engine shed. The channelling above the engines was provided to carry the smoke away via the chimneys that are visible in the roof space above. The pit between the rails allowed maintenance to be performed beneath the locomotives. Similar pits outside the shed were provided to allow ash to be cleared from the locomotives.

Here we see 1363, an 0-6-0 saddle tank standing beside a much larger 2-6-2 'Prairie' tank.
