Former Post Office, Mirfield, Yorkshire
The Post Office used to have a sorting office at the back, but now that is done in Dewsbury and the counter services have moved to a corner of the Co-op supermarket. At one time, in the days of four-figure telephone numbers, the exchange was upstairs. A new telephone exchange was later built nearby in Station Road. Fortunately the post office building has been re-used as a shop. The next building is a modern block of flats, filling a gap that was part of the post office yard. Then 'The Vale', which was a cinema and became a night club. There is a café, charity shop and bookies facing the road. Beyond that is Trinity Methodist Chapel, but that needs another photo.
