NO2925 : Reed Bales by the River Tay

taken 18 years ago, near to Grange, Perth And Kinross, Scotland

Reed Bales by the River Tay.
Reed Bales by the River Tay.
For many years the tay reed beds were harvested commercially (each bale pictured being worth about £120), but now the RSPB looks after the Tay reedbeds and the harvesting focus is on creating the right conditions for the birdlife (including the rare bearded tit).
