Newdigate Colliery Arm, Coventry Canal
Newdigate Colliery Arm, Coventry Canal
This photograph was taken in about 1962 when I was working for British Railways and carrying out surveys of all the places where railways and canals came together.

The view shows the stretch of the canal arm from the railway bridge to its junction with the main line of the Coventry Canal. In the background can be seen Bedworth Hill Bridge which you can see close up in SP3686 : Bedworth Hill Bridge. It is interesting to compare this view with other recent photographs. SP3686 : Newdigate Colliery Arm is looking in roughly the same direction from beside the canal, and SP3686 : The Newdigate Colliery Arm of the Coventry Canal, Bedworth, Warwickshire is from the main canal looking towards my viewpoint. SP3686 : Railway bridge, Bedworth is looking in the same direction as me, but under the bridge that I was standing on.
