Copland's Monument
Copland's Monument
This strange monument sits in open moorland above the Brunthass Burn not far from Nether Minnygap. It is called Copland's Monument on the 1:25,000 OS map. Just who or what it commemorates is unclear. Was Copland a shepherd, perhaps? It is old - it is marked on the first edition of the OS 6 inch map which was completed for Dumfriesshire by 1858.
