The River Kennet is a chalk stream that rises at Swallowhead Springs near West Kennett (sic). For its length from the source to Woolhampton east of Newbury it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The section of river in view here is the westernmost of two short channels seen in this image Link
