Glenshinnoch (Orchardton Stables)
Glenshinnoch (Orchardton Stables)
The following fragment: LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) was found in 2007 by Mr William Barlow during conversion of part of Glenshinnoch (Orchardton Stables) near Auchencairn. It was discovered wedged in a crevice in an old stone wall.

Considering the historical context (late 18th C.), it is possibly the work of an Exciseman of the period who was sometimes in the area in pursuit of its numerous smugglers. Said 'poet' was notorious locally for his carousing and the composition of much boisterous doggerel.
