Engine house at Tankardstown Copper Mine
The mine at Tankardstown was built in the 1850s and closed in the 1870s when the profitable seams ran out. The ore was sorted at Bunmahon before being shipped to Swansea for smelting.

After the mines closed many of the mining families emigrated to the copper mines in America.
