Standing Stones of Yoxie, Whalsay, Shetland
On the east side of Whalsay, between Isbister and Skaw are the Standing Stones of Yoxie. Excavated in 1954-5 they are now thought to be similar in layout to sites in Malta and Gozo.
A temple dated as c.2000BC, Described in the 'Shell Book of the Islands of Britain (1981)' thus: The courtyard and main structure measure 61' by 36', and the inside chamber has a small annex making the general plan a figure-of-eight.
