Drainpipe and windows, Belfast
The decorated drainpipe J3374 : Drainpipe and column, Belfast and J3372 : Dated drainpipe, Belfast no longer features (unfortunately) in modern architecture. This example is in Elmwood Avenue on the Queen’s Agriculture Building. It was built in 1924-28 to a design by the Ministry of Finance architect R Ingleby Smith. A third floor was added in 1952 by TFO Rippingham (the then Chief Architect at the Ministry). There are more examples at the Law Courts (with Royal ciphers) but only properly visible from inside the building.
