Castles of Munster: Moycarkey, Tipperary (1)

This five storey tower is located about a mile to the northwest of the town of Horse & Jockey set within a large rectangular bawn. There is a circular bartizan on the SW corner, and a box machicolation is set high up over the entrance. In 1640 the castle was held by William Cantwell. The bawn still has its two three storey high circular flankers at the NE and SW corners.
