Weathered trees at East Loups's
All the farms on Loups's Hill are in ruins and the area is little-visited except by the military as this lies in the danger area for what appears on the map as "rifle range", but sounds (from my home several kilometres away) as though it is often used for machine gun practice. Several of the enclosures seem still to have higher quality grass than the surrounding moor, but many of the trees are falling into decrepitude (several in this area seem to have been ringbarked by some grazing animals). This group of three look healthy but soil has clearly eroded from the roots and they look gaunt against a lowering sky in the late autumn.
