For a similar photograph, obtained on a later visit, but under better lighting conditions, see NS3578 : St Peter's Seminary, Cardross; a considerably more detailed account of the building is given there (with references).

This modern structure, by Gillespie, Kidd and Coia, was a Catholic seminary; it opened in 1966. The book "Great Modern Buildings" (Jonathan Glancey) comments: "the low-set and rhythmic four-story addition was in part derived from the forms of Corbusier's Maisons Jaoul and in part by the plan of the monastery at La Tourette".

When I took these photos, the site was surrounded by a security fence. For other views, see NS3578 : St Peter's Seminary, Kilmahew and NS3578 : Interior of St Peter's Seminary (see Mark's own website for more images).
