J3373 : The Lincoln Centre site, Belfast
taken 14 years ago, near to Belfast, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland
A development site, at the corner of Gt Victoria Street and Bruce Street which was to have been the Lincoln Centre “a flagship office building, Days Hotel Belfast, apartments, a health and fitness club, restaurants, retail and basement parking. Located at the heart of Belfast's commercial and leisure district and next to a major transport interchange, the Lincoln Centre will be Belfast's most prestigious address”. It became the subject of litigation between the owner and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. Pending redevelopment it was used as a public car park (apparently without planning permission and, I understand, subsequently closed following enforcement action taken by the Planning Service) as well as being the car park for patrons of Days Hotel.
The photographs submitted by me appear as neutral matter of geographical and historical record only and do not make any comment about the various issues involved.
