Longford - Carrigglas Manor House - North view
This Tudor Revival style manor house was built with blue-grey limestone in 1837 by Thomas Lefroy of Huguenot descent and is still owned by the Lefroy family. Our tour group was able to see the interior, but photos are not permitted, as the house is a private residence. Included in the interior are a formal entrance hall with a stained glass window, a drawing room with an unusual ceiling, a library, a dining room, and numerous bedrooms. The ground include a unique & famous stable yard that was designed in 1970s by James Gandon, the architect who designed Customs House and Four Courts in Dublin.
